Cooperative Curriculum
All 25 members have completed a 8-week training that included the following:
CPR training class with FDNY
Child Development class by the Sunset Park Head Start teachers and directors
Workshop on using music, dance, food, and other forms of play with children
Safety in the home – What to do in an emergency & providing a safety check in the home
Labor Laws on domestic work by an organizer from Domestic Workers United
Rules & Regulations of a Cooperative Business
Marketing workshops with Vidal Partnership
Other trainings the individual members have completed & are currently involved in:
The Parenting Journey through Center for Family Life
A Health & Nutrition Program through Cornell University Cooperative Extension
A workshop on having a structured day with children.
An "ESL in the workplace" class
The members of the Cooperative are committed to Exploratory Learning:
Members like to encourage children to learn through hands-on experiences, creative activities, and "explorations" that allow kids to choose topics of interest, share their knowledge, and develop higher-level thinking skills.
* Each member has 3 references available upon request.
* Most members have been background checked through the SCR Clearance.
